Novara Reacts to Trump Victory

good afternoon and welcome to a very special us election themed live stream from Navara media with me to discuss the results and provide some quick fire analysis is my colleague and comrade Aaron bastani um Aaron I suppose rather than asking you how you're doing I'm going to just throw a question right at you if you were an American citizen all other things being the same your politics are still the same your family circumstances are still the same your income still the same who would you have voted for if you would have voted at all in this election I think if I lived in the state of Pennsylvania which was being pitched as this all important swing state it would be a really hard question I think basically anywhere else I probably wouldn't have voted down ballot obviously there are other races I would be interested in but I I suspect I wouldn't have voted of course it's easy to say and it's an interesting thought experiment that's not to say that I think that Harris and Trump are the same I don't think that I think Donald Trump probably within days is going to withdraw the US from some really important climate agreements but I wouldn't I think I wouldn't be able to give my Express consent to politician who is so comfortable with an ongoing genocide frankly so I I probably would not have voted in this race yeah cuz I was thinking about it this morning and I'm not going to focus too long on this because I realized two Brits um speculating on who they would have voted for is is of limited interest or value and we're going to get into the proper analysis in a second but I think just as a way of of trying to imagine myself into the position of an American voter um I would have found it really difficult I think that the particular area where I would find it difficult would be uh over women's reproductive freedoms I'd find it very difficult to countenance living in a country where a pregnancy could kill me um that would be really difficult to get my head around but ultimately I think the principle that you should punish politicians for bad policies and I'm not just talking about bad policies like failed policies I'm talking about materially ...
