Novara REACTS To ITV Sunak vs Starmer Debate

hello good evening I am so excited for the next hour and a bit right now we're about to watch of course the first televised debate of the 2024 general election if you didn't know already it's the head-to-head the oneto one kissama versus rishy sunak on ITV I'm Aaron bastani I'm joined by the imar cible ash Saka how you doing Ash I'm good I'm glad to see you made it safely back from the Mean Streets of God aling it was tough I almost got caught in the wait deli section but I made it out somehow with my with all my body parts intact Ash what are you expecting for this evening obviously it's just the two candidates fundamentally who'll be the next prime minister unless something very strange happens um what are you keeping your antenna out for who has the most to lose who has the most to gain well the first thing I'd say is that dispositionally Rishi sunak and K Dharma can be quite similar they do both get very tety when Under Pressure there's not a lot that's going to be dividing them on policy so I imagine that it's going to be a lot of what we've heard before from starma in terms of the incompetence and Chaos of uh the conservative governments expect to hear a lot about Liz truss's disastrous mini budget and I think from rishy sunak if he's smart he'll try and Corner K starma on consistency and honesty but I get the feeling he's going to try and pigeon hole him as same old labor so you're still the man who stood on a platform with Jeremy Corbin and trying to really tie him to the 2019 result I think that's right and um I feel like I don't know what your view on this is Ash that both both men actually stand a lot to lose I I don't feel like anybody really stands to gain very much here if Rishi sunak has a very bad debate I mean it look let's be honest the campaign's already over for the conservative party but it could really be curtain there has been talk over the last 24 hours of conservative candidates switching over to reform I think if it's a car crash tonight that would only help facilitate that and I think with K starma look ...
