trad movement is intertwined with the maha movement and the individualism of classical liberalism which is corrosive to the soul as they see it. Um so I think a lot of people have actually gone back genuinely to that. The pagans as we were talking about earlier have gone back to the bronze age literally and you know some people maybe they prefer the iron age and when you start to question that you're questioning modernity all of it. Liberty and market competition is inevitably going to lead us to this dterritorialization of traditional values.

We'd call that a distinction between the base and superructure. Yes. >> So, is a new right agreeing with the Marxist analysis? >> God damn.

This is one of the things I appreciate about your perspective because a real challenge on the left in the last few years is to get people out of this mindset of like Reagan Christian conservatism patriarchal society like that being the hegemonic structure. And there are degrees to which that is still intact. But we also have an era in many spaces in society of progressive cultural hegemony. >> And when you're trying to talk about the shift of young people's political sentiments, you can't really explain one without the other.

And that has been a very difficult thing for people on the left to grasp that they are actually meaningfully in charge of certain levers of culture particularly movies, Hollywood, Netflix, this kind of stuff. Why has that been so difficult to grasp for people on the left? >> Yeah, that's super interesting because right now I think we are starting to see that change too, the progressive hegemony in different institutions. And trying to explain a lot of this to people on the right was interesting because you constantly hear people, you know, in the conservative movement, which I've come out of, basically say >> communist Hollywood, communist, right?

And and the left hears that and they apply a Chsky lens to it and they're like, "What are you talking about? These are arch capitalists um who are laundering >> wokeness through >> their films to make more money or whatever." I mean, there's that like timeless story about I think it ...
